About Us

Marcel Founder of Romgen

I was born in Manchester and moved to live in Israel in 1988.

My passion for genealogy started in the 1970s as a volunteer research assistant to the well – known Polytechnic historian Bill Williams – extracting and indexing from microfilm all the Jewish inhabitants from the 1871 census of Manchester and Salford.

During that period I rescued hundreds of endangered communal documents in both Liverpool and Manchester and deposited them into the Manchester City Archive.

In 2004 I commenced my research in Romania, starting with Raducaneni and Bacau, the birth towns of my maternal grandparents.

As a result of this extensive research Romgen now cover the entire area of Greater Romania.

Marcel Glaskie is an accredited researcher in the C.N.S.A.S. communist archive in Bucharest.
